Welcome to the beaded basket pattern instructions! This pattern was generously created and donated to all of us by our fellow beader Lobo1. If you have any difficulty following this tutorial, please post a comment at the bottom of the page, and I'll do my best to help, or if I am unable, I will inform Lobo1 of the difficulty.
Before you begin ...
Materials: 1 meter of fishing line, seed beads of desired size (all one size) in two colors
Time required: 1 hour
Techniques: Beadweaving, rosette stitch
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions for beaded basket diagram:
Work from the center to the edge of the pattern (starting from the bottom of the basket, shown in the diagram)
ROW 1:
String 6 or 8 green seed beads to make a tight circle. Tie a knot (between first and last beads strung). String through each bead in the circle again, then cut the thread short.
ROW 2:
Ladder Stitch 1 green seed bead to each green seed bead in Row One, for a total of 6 or 8 beads.
Then lace 1 green seed bead in between each of the green beads, for a total of 6 or 8 beads. This step is like peyote stitch.
ROW 3:
Ladder Stitch 1 green seed bead to the previous ladder stitched green seed bead, for a total of 6 or 8 beads.
Then lace 2 white seed beads in between each green seed bead, for a total of 12 or 16 beads.
Repeat ROW 3 to make your basket as tall as you would like.
Either ladder stitch a handle or just string beads, attach to the opposite side and run through several beads and tie a knot to finish your basket.
Instructions for larger beaded basket diagram:
You can make a larger basket by making the rosette larger. Simply continue to increment row by row the number of beads that are peyote stitched between the ladder stitched beads. Once you have decided on how wide the base will be, continue to add rows to make your basket taller, but do not increment the number of beads that are peyote stitched. Instead, use the same number of beads in your lacing (peyote) steps in each additional row. Enjoy!
