using Inkscape

by Sesems, Saturday, February 14, 2009, 09:45

Hi, this is a query about Inkscape, I hope I have posted this question in the right section. In a pattern I'm making I followed your instructions for drawng arrows and the 1st arrows were successful. I then wanted to add a different styled arrow and again followed the instructions. I tried to add arrow heads to this line (which I drew with the correct pen symbol) but when I went to Fill and Stroke >> Stroke Style the Start, Mid and End Markers boxes weren't hightlighted. I tried to draw arrows on different layers in the pattern but with the same result. What silly mistake am I making?

Hi Sesems, you've discovered a little bug that inkscape has sometimes. It doesn't happen very often, but sometimes it gets confused and doesn't realize you've highlighted the arrow line when you really have. Just save your work and close and reopen the program and it should work fine. Let us know, thanks!

Thanks for the fast reply to my email. I took your advice and it worked, "my precious" is working just fine, now I can continue with my pattern of a seahorse. :-)

Hehe, that's good. Who is your precious? Hope you'll show us your seahorse, we'd all love to see him (or her)!

'My precious' is Inkscape, lol, I love it :-) I have downloaded the Gimp program and with your instructions I will try and understand how to use it. Many thanks for the link and the instructions. In your Home Page you've put to email photos to you, is that correct? I've nearly finished making the 2nd seahorse (I've already made one ) and when its done I will email photos of both of them to you plus a Puffer Fish which I've made.

Hi Sesems, I'm glad you like Inkscape and Gimp!
Are you sending photos or patterns? If you're only sending photos, you can upload them onto the forum directly so we can all see them. Just click on the Image button which is beside all the smilies. This will guide you in uploading your images to the forum. They will show up right in your post. If you're emailing a pattern file (inkscape file), then you should email it to me directly because it won't show up on here.
