i just started beading recently and this is an eveing bag that i made (with the help of an expert of course..)

Wow! that's gorgeous! I love the handle. Have a go at the patterns on the site, you shouldn't have any trouble now that you've done one, and you can always ask for help.

it's my first piece of beading jewellery that i've made..
not sure exactly how to describe the handle but it's a ready piece, just slipped through the thread and that's it..
i can take a photo of the handle later on for you if u like..

i actually learnt this at a beading shop and they have instructors providing help.. but have to pay them at an hourly rate!
I spent 2.5 hrs on this bag..
yeh would definitely love to wear this bag out but has yet to figure how (as a necklace or bracelet??) !! haahaa...
sorry i haven't had a chance to try out the patterns yet.. work is getting me busy now & plus my baby...(which also explains for my slow reply) but I will get down to it one day.. soon i hope.. I would like to try out Laura's beaded apple, it looks so delicious.. heeheehee.. not sure if an amateur like me will be able to do it on my own tho.. 
I also have two beading books, so may be able to share with you all the patterns if there is anyone interested.. like crosses, bracelets, pendants, and there's one on grapes. i did this necklace with beaded pendant, will post for all to view.. but one thing, it's in chinese..

Hi Lois,
Have you attempted any of the patterns in the chinese book? Are they are similar to the patterns on here in how they show the thread and beads?
If you try the apple and have any problems just post a comment at the bottom of the page and I'll do my best to help you - or one of the others will if I'm not around. Hopefully you'll be okay with it - I've not had any feedback on whether the instructions are clear enough to follow so you'll have to let me know!

yes Laura, i tried one and have posted it as well.. it's the beaded pendant.. quite easy to do.. as for the pattern, more or less the same. if you are interested i can scan you the pattern or Allegra can post it here to share with everyone as well.. only thing is that the instruction is in chinese, but i believe you guys should be able to figure it out..
