Hey! I found these instructions here and found a cute Hello Kitty. But the instructions are in japanese. Anyone knows how I can read it without the japanese part? The pattern is clear but it's confusing wich is the body, and how you "attach" everything. Help!!!

Hi Valerie. The first part is for the head, you can see the 2 black beads for the eyes. Steps 1 to 5 join on straight from each other ie. you don't tie it off but just continue from the bead where you left off, shown with a blue bead. Step 6 is adding the ears, you use a new thread for each ear. Steps 7 - 13 is the body, joined at the red numbered beads of the head pattern. Steps 11 and 12 are the feet and tail, it shows lower case or upper case A and B for which one's which. I'm not sure what 12 is, but it will probably make sense when you get to it. Step 13 is the bow in her head. Hope that helps.

Oh, I've seen this pattern before! Laura first showed it to us about a year ago. You'll find it on a way earlier forum thread called Beading Patterns (it would be on the 2nd page of threads). We had a big discussion about it and a girl called Bidiboum posted her picture of the hello kitty with umbrella that she made from that pattern. It's a bit hard to follow because the lines and beads aren't straight and symmetrical the way they've been drawn, but if you really study it closely, hopefully it will slowly come together! They could have easily drawn their beads more symmetrically, but oh well.

Thanks!!! I think I get it now. I also think the hello kitty's head isn't in 3D, right? Well, I wanted to know if I might be able to do it with normal beads. Would it look the same??? Well, write back! jaja!

No, it will be in 3D. If you just follow the pattern, you'll find it will make a ball shape. You'll end with those six beads that are red and circled in blue. This will be the neck. You can use any beads you like, even any sizes you like. It would just look slightly different than the picture shown there.

Thanks everyone!!! Now I understand everything except that there's a blue bead in the head, what does that mean? Well, I'll try to make her today (after I make a monkey, jaja!)
