Hi!!! I was looking for something in google, when I saw these pretty hummingbirds. I wanted to make them, but I couldn't, and I was thinking if maybe you could check it out to see if you can imagine what the pattern might be. It doesn't matter if it takes a lot of time, I just want to be able to do them. If anyone knows a site where I might find the pattern, tell me!!!

I recognize those. They are done by Dragon. You can find the kits and patterns for sale here . They are so beautiful.

They are cute. They don't look that hard to make. From the looks of it, I think they are made using wire wrapping. Each horizontal beaded line in the bird's chest is just a loop of beads going round and round up the bird, with different numbers of beads on each line so that the bird has dimension. At least, that's what it looks like to me. And the tail looks like it could be done with a simple fringe technique. What do you think Jax?
Idea...
I just checked out the site Jax gave me and it said it was made with square stitch, but I'm still not familiar to that technique...
Idea...
Haha, neither am I...it must be maybe it's square stitched in certain spots just to connect the rows to each other so make the bird sturdy, but I definitely see that the front part is big loops of horizontally strung beads. I think with square stitching you are only attaching the rows to each other vertically so they stay in place.
Idea...
If you look at the kits, it comes with a spool of Nymo. Not wire. Square stitch kinda looks like it is done in rows but it is done by stacking each bead, one at a time, on top of each other. Picture loom work without making it on a loom.
Idea...
Oh. And what would happen if I just did it with loops? Will it still look like the one in the picture?
Idea...
Well, he would unwind like a slinky. You have to have some sort of connection between the rows so he doesn't unwind. But essentially it is loops that are just connected top to bottom as well. Doesn't have to be in every spot, just enough to keep him together. To connect the rows in one spot, string your thread through a bead in row 1 and then through the bead directly below it in row 2, then through the one in row 3, etc. That's how I would think to do it anyhow. Just make beaded circles of two, like right angle weave, but only two beads and cross the 2nd one, working your way down the row. But maybe I'm just crazy. Jax doesn't seem to agree with our methods, but never hurts to try it and see!
