Hey all, I just got another email from Loreal Paris about their hair colour products, and I thought, hey I wonder what I would look like with a different hair colour, so I've photoshopped my grad photo to give myself three other hair colours (my hair is dark brown, so I "dyed" it light brown, blonde, and coppery red). Let me know which one looks best hehe. The top left one is me.

I like the red.

Allegra,
I think I like your natural dark brown color best. Fun way to see what you'll look like with different colors without going to the hair salon.

I think your natural hair colour looks the best too, although I quite like the light brown as well.
(Maybe for the blonde and red pics you could Photoshop your eyebrows to match )

haha, I liked the red as well, among all the fake ones. Freckled people look good with red hair, and my face is covered in freckles. Hehe, yep, it sure is great being able to pick your hair colour without stepping foot outside your house! Or going through months of agony looking horrendous because you made the wrong choice armed only with your gut instinct.
I agree the blonde is not the greatest. Well now I know LOL!
But I can't believe all this support for the dark hair. I hate it!
Horsing around with photoshop
I like the top left. Maybe the bottom left but just don't go to coppery or it looks funny! I don't think you would make a good blond, that makes you look washed out and pale. I should have sent you my pic before I dyed my hair and let you play with it. Oh well, It turned out a little redder then I wanted but luckily I actually like it.
Horsing around with photoshop
Send it! I can make any colour out of any existing colour. Send me your pic, it's fun!

Ok I will have to take an updated one with the new color. Oh I have to tell you I saw this thing on a blog somewhere about a bead cruise It's to late for 2009 because (1) you have to pay by Nov. 2008 and (2) we are both still broke from school anyway but wouldn't that be fun to do in 2010? Its like 7 days in the Caribbean with an all day class plus beading social every night. I was totally drooling when I read about it. We should totally think about this!

I like your natural dark hair, but i do like the red as well. I've been dying my hair since I was a kid..It's been different shades of red, its been blond, purple, different color browns, and black. Black or red is my favorite on me, I HATED blonde.
That cruise looks neat! It always really botheres me when it says call for prices. That means it costs too much! Lol.
Horsing around with photoshop
Oh I am sure it costs a lot but one can always dream right? 7 days in the Caribbean with no kids or husbands/boyfriends surrounded by other beaders, sounds good to me!
Horsing around with photoshop
Hehe, no wonder you like the dark and the red, Celeste. You just like those colours! But I saw your picture in your photo album, and your skin tone is very similar to mine. I agree the blonde is hideous. Now I know without having to waste months with horrible hair lol.
The cruise sounds good. Does it ever dock somewhere so you can explore the land? Jax, do you know what the price is? If it's ridiculous, we could always just make arrangements to meet each other somewhere and have a less expensive beading outing with just us! lol
We're not so far away from each other that we couldn't drive to see each other (except Laura and Jen, who are overseas).

I forgot to mention, I've moved to a small town (since yesterday). My home city of Toronto has a population of 4 million, whereas this town (called Picton) has a population of 4000! It's about 3 hours east of Toronto. I'm staying with a nice lady and her family. Her house is very old victorian style. My room is beautiful, so charming with quilted floral blankets and pillows. I'm going to take a picture and upload it so you can see it. I'll be living here for 2 months during my first spring rotation in a community pharmacy, which starts tomorrow!
Horsing around with photoshop
wow Jax, I saw your response to the comments on the animals page. That's quite amazing. You're way better at moderating than me haha. I don't think I would have thought to say any of that!
Horsing around with photoshop
That is cool I can't wait to see pictures of your room. 4000??? That is even smaller then where I grew up (13,000 or so) San Jose is at least 1 million people now but the area has way more then that. The towns here all blend together. My street is in San Jose but two blocks to my left is Santa Clara, two blocks to my right is Campbell and about a mile down the road you are in San Jose again! I never know where I am going! Hope you have a good first day of your rotation. Just remember to be prepared. We get a pharmacy student a couple days a week and our pharmacist is really nice and always tells them what to study up on for the next time they come and they never do and she gets really irritated when they aren't prepared! But you will be fine! And ty about the Moderator comment. It seems like the same questions get asked over and over on the other pages and I think the forum is great for those answers. And I hope maybe bringing everyone together in the forum will encourage more conversation. I know I lurked for a while before I posted a comment, same with the groups I am in, trying to get a feel for things so I hope we are making it feel friendly enough for everyone to jump right in. Ohh and I just checked the side bar, Yay for a beaded apple pattern! That will be cool!
Horsing around with photoshop
Hehe, the beaded apple is by Laura from England (our regular Laura).
This is my room in Picton (not at home! I wish):
Tomorrow I will put some pictures of me walking on the frozen lake!
Horsing around with photoshop
Very nice - it looks really cosy and homely.
Who is the painted portrait of on the wall? Anyone famous?
Horsing around with photoshop
I was wondering that myself about the painting of the girl on the wall. I have no idea, I don't recognize her face, but then I'm not a history buff by any means.
Horsing around with photoshop
It is gorgeous! How long do you get to stay there? I can't wait to see the frozen lake! How was your first day?
Horsing around with photoshop
I think it is a package on a regular cruise and it docks at ports and everything. The only difference is you are included in a group where only the beaders could do the activities so its not a whole boat full of people beading. And I am sure it is expensive but I bet you are right, we could probably plan somewhere really cool to meet up and it would be way cheaper.

My first day was rough, but my second day was a lot better. I'm hoping it will continue to get better. She really threw me in the deep end with the sharks from the moment I walked in the door. I had never stepped foot in a pharmacy dispensary before in my life, I've only read about the therapeutic properties of all the drug classes in books. I didn't learn specific details like all the brands available of each drug, the different dosage forms (eg. is it a tablet or capsule, what is the colour), the different strengths of tablets (like we learned what the usual dosing range is for a given disease, but not like would that be half a tablet or a full tablet or two tablets, given the strength of each tablet). The minute I walked in, she handed me about 5 prescriptions and made me fill them on my own with no help. I've never filled a prescription before. Boy I had to learn fast. She called me slow too, ouch. She said "You better speed up or you won't last long in the real world". LOL! My biggest problem is finding the drug on the shelf, again because they are all bunched together in alphabetical order, which is fine, but all the brands for the same drug are clumped together, and you have to pick the brand that was ordered, and you have to pick the right strength of pill for that brand. The pharmacist and technician were moving so fast. They would print out the labels, turn around and grab the bottle off the shelf, almost without looking. Meanwhile, I'm there scanning the shelf up and down to find the place, then lifting each bottle one by one to see which one it is. Hopefully I will see them enough times to eventually know all the brand names and dosage forms available. And then there's the counselling part. She threw me right into that too. I had just been there 20 minutes and she said to the customer, "Okay Mrs. X, my student Allegra is going to discuss your medications with you now." Boy was I freaking out. I had about 10 seconds to look up the meds she was on and learn the side effects of it, how to take it, and come up with a plan of how to approach it. According to our marking scheme, we have to have a whole structured conversation with the patients in our counselling. We have to ask them the reason for the prescription to see if it's appropriate, if they have any other medical conditions, allergies, or on any other medications that might interact with the drug they are getting, find out if there conditions are under control (eg. they are getting an osteoporosis drug, but their blood pressure is soaring) and schedule a follow up call if need be. For example, if it is a dose increase from a previous dose and you want to know if they are going to have any side effects. It's pretty hectic too, over 100 prescriptions per day. Maybe that's not hectic by big chain standards, but it's hectic for me. LOL. I'm trying to catch up on relearning my therapeutics during my evenings so I can sound a bit less dumbfounded when I am called upon LOL. I took a break to design a bracelet, as you can see. Sorry about not posting the spider pattern yet. I've started working on fixing the diagram arrows tonight, and that should be done by tonight, and then I'll work on posting it tomorrow. Meanwhile, while I'm doing that, you guys can pick a bracelet bead colour for me!

Oh yeah I remember how different it is to learn in a book and in our labs and then go out and do something! The first time I put in a catheter, I was totally freaked out, I couldn't remember what to do! And when we started passing meds and the patients would have ten or so meds and would want us to tell them what each one was before they took it to make sure us students weren't trying to kill them! Total panic. But it got better! You will do fine once you are comfortable with where stuff is.
