Making your own patterns?
Ok, I'll post my questions here so people wont have to dig through another thread to find them incase they have the same questions!
I understand now how to use the program (Inkscape), and how to make patterns in their. But, I have no idea where to begin when I make a pattern! I have no idea how to draw it out and set it up. I dont know which string should go where, and Im not sure on when i need to use 6 beads in a row, or 5, or 4. I don't know what order I need to number the beads in, etc etc.
For beading in general (Without a pattern, just trying to figure it out through practice and experimenting) I'm not entirely sure how so start making something smaller either (For example, I was trying to make a 3-d glider tail, which is fluffier towards the end and smaller towards the base.). I dont know how to start it off small and slowly make it bigger. And, I have no idea how to do body shapes, or different style ears. The patterns i can read and understand..But now I just dont know the actual rules and process BEHIND the patterns...Does that make any sense at all? LOL.
I have no idea how you all make your own patterns! Lol. I can follow em fine, but the making them myself thing? Psh! No way! Lol. Suggestions or advice for a new beader?

Hehe, sorry I had to change the color of your post. I was having trouble reading it! Anyways, to answer your questions:
The best advice I can recommend for a new beader is to practice practice practice. Once you've done enough patterns and different styles and techniques, you'll find yourself much more comfortable with beading, and you'll start making connections in your own mind. Try out some of the jewelry patterns as well, even if you've not into making jewelry, because it will help condition your mind to all the different possibilities! The techniques used in beading jewelry definitely can be applied to making animals.
As for knowing where to place the beads and arrows in the program, that also comes with practice. I honestly had no idea when I first tried to make a beading diagram. I had to think it all through in my mind as if I was going to be actually making this piece that I was trying to draw. It took quite a long time. But then after making a few diagrams, I started seeing general connections and patterns, and was able to do it much faster. Just try to imagine yourself making the piece and where would your string go next. It's not easy and takes practice. Also, obviously, it helps a lot to practice beading a lot too.
For the tail problem, often you can make the tail look as if it's getting thicker by using three different sized beads. You can start the tail with the smallest beads, then switch to medium beads, then end off with the largest beads. It would probably be the easiest way of doing it. The other thing you could do is add more beads in your bead circles as you get further along towards the end of the tail. Like start out with 4 beads per bead circle and then 5, and then 6. I guess it's hard to explain in writing, but maybe just practice more patterns, or even remaking the same patterns, so that it becomes clearer in your head.
Hope this helps!!

LOL sorry about the colors!! Are these easier on the eyes?
And thanks for the tail suggestions, that does help and make sense! I'll practice on the jewelry ones..Cant hurt right? Thanks for your advice and suggestions!
