PEYOTE BEADING: Can you give me some tips?
I've discovered this really fun technique quite recently, but am having trouble with the start. Whenever I'm using it, I always mix up the 1st and 2nd rows, so the pattern doesn't come out right..
Peyote stitching is amazing and you can make SO many things just with the patterns, but I can't really do it yet.
Can you give me some tips on how to solve this problem?
PEYOTE BEADING: Can you give me some tips?
Hi everyone.
I have been missing in action for quite a while. I am busy going through old posts, to see what I missed. This one caught my eye. The easiest way to keep your first few rows straight when doing Peyote stitch, is that after each bead that you add, you must pull your threads very tight, which makes them form the shape of the first two rows. The best thread to use when first learning how to do peyote stitch, is Fireline. The other thing, is that when doing peyote stitch, you must use uniform seed beads for example, like Delica, Toho, Preciosa or Matsuno seed beads. If your beads are not a uniform shape, then your beading will not take form properly, or it will be out of shape.
You can also buy a " Quick Start Peyote " Card, designed by Deb Moffet-Hall. It can be used for even and odd count peyote stitch. It is perfect for beginners. There are different cards for the different size beads.

I thought I would just post here, the beaded flowers I am busy with, made with peyote stitch and also the materials I use. This pattern is so easy to make, that even people who have never done something like this, can make these. I also used Acrylic Rivoli and Glass marbles for the centers, much cheaper than using the real Swarovski Crystals. The seed beads are Japanese Matsuno beads, a lot cheaper for me, than Delica's or Toho's.
This is a free pattern, I found . You can find a pattern like this one in an old Bead&Button magazine by Melanie Colburn.
