How to Read Beading Patterns?
Hi I just recently started beading 3D animals and I began by following a penguin video tutorial. It has come out successfully and I love it- but I am wondering...how do you read beading patterns? I've found very nice patterns online provided by users, and most of them come from Japanese or Korean magazines. I'm confused by the mass of colors and arrows...could any one tell me how to read these so I can try on of these patterns? I know this is probably a very old and stupid question but I would really appreciate any/all help. Thanks!

It is hard to read the numbers on the photo that you have provided. Could you post a closer photo. I will try to help you. Also, I would love a copy of the pattern. If you need my e-0mail address, let me know.

Hi Kristen :o) The arrows show you in what direction you will be working and the different colors within the pattern usually represents the different colored beads used. I have learned to color the ends of the string/wire with either Black/Blue and Red marker. It helps a lot. Always look for the star or #1 as that will be your starting point. Hope I was able to help.

@Mz Nel: Thanks it helps a little but I'm really still confused about the arrows, they just look like a big mass to me and I can't really figure them out :/
