looking for a pattern & advice on miniature beading
Hi, Has any-one got the pattern titled 'Wish Upon A Starfish' from Beadwork magazine, Feb/Mar 2005, on page 33?
Also I want to try my hand at miniature beading. I've never attempted it before and have no idea how to do it. Has any-one got advice, patterns for miniature 3d items or any information that would be of help?
thanks
Liz

Hi Liz.
I went through my Beadwork magazines and do not have this pattern in them. Do you have a picture of it, as I have a lot of the Best of Beadwork Books. It will be easier and quicker for me to search for it with a picture than going through all the books and reading what patterns are in them.
About Beading miniatures. There are a number of tutorials and techniques that are used for making them here at the 3D Forum under different listings.
It also depends what Technique you want to use for making miniatures and there are a lot of nice and easy patterns here at 3D Beading and its Forum, to get you started with, thanks to all the people who kindly contribute to this Forum, you can pretty much find everything here that you are looking for to start making miniatures.
I hope this answers you questions and helps.
Vanessa.

Hi Vanessa
Thanks for replying to my request, I'm sorry its taken me so long in getting back with an answer. I have had my daughter from USA staying with me here in Britain.
This is the info I found about the star fish "Dulcey's original pattern was in Beadwork magazine, Feb/Mar 2005, page 33, 'Wish Upon A Starfish'."
When you asked about Techniques I want to use, I presume you refer to types of stitches. I don't mind which Techniques they require. I was hoping to learn how to make pieces about the size of dolls furniture and get an idea about how larger sculptures are made. As an example I will attempt to attach a picture of an artist A Kimberlin Blackburn and also the picture of the star fish
I tried have to download the images but I get the message •invalid file format - is this because I use Open Office and not Microsoft
.
Peace and happiness

Hi Liz
I will look out for the pattern for you, but at the moment I really do not have the time, as my husband is on leave and we are doing a lot of day trips and also planting trees on our property, by the end of each day I am exhausted.
About computers and saving the image, I do not have a clue about Open Office and Microsoft. Maybe Allegra or someone else can answer that one for you.
If you know all your techniques or Beading stitches, then it is just a matter of following the directions of a 3D Pattern, to make miniatures or larger statues out of Beads, using what ever technique the pattern is in.
I will get back to you about the pattern.
Enjoy your day
Vanessa.
