Different Pattern type help
Does anybody know how to read this type of pattern, I've seen them before, but I've never actually made them. http://crystalpalace.poempalace.org/beadedpattern032.htm
Maybe I should just start at the top and add beads to that number and it may start to make sense.
But any help would be appreciated

Hi Jen.
If you go to the first page topic here called ANIMAIS PADROES and click on the first link you will find a book there that is REVISTA DIY 26.Then if you go to the link at Rapid Share which is at beading requests and download the book from Rapid Share called GLASS BEAD ARTISTRY,in both these 2 books you will find a 3D tower that look identical, the one has the normal instructions how to do it in English and the other one is done in these instructions that you want help with to understand.I am sure if you put the 2 patterns together you should learn how to understand how the patterns work,as that is what I am going to do.Sorry I am still looking for the vase instructions.i hope this helps as I also want to understand these pattern instructions.

I found the Revista 26 link, but I can't find a link called Rapid Share or beading requests. Can you tell me where it is on the page?

Hi Jen.

Hi Jen,
I've seen patterns of this kind before and someone told me that it is an old Chinese system but I was never able to figure it out. I received a newsletter from your website and I was wondering if you sell any of your 3d animal patterns. I love the dog and the elephant. Do you get your patterns from a book? I've never tried Victorian beading, is it very different from right angle weave? You have some spectacular pieces!!! I'd appreciate any info on your patterns.
Thanks,
Nancy

Hi Nancy.
I find patterns everywhere, most of the websites I know about are listed here on this site. I have a couple of books and magazines as well. And lots of stuff I make up myself.
The dog is Victorian beading which is done with wire and is similar to right angle weave. It took me quite a few tries to get this right (my Mum and daughter have some of the first tries). Here's the link http://pagesperso-orange.fr/mk.perles%20/basset.htm
The elephant is from a book I have, it's probably on one of the links on this site, it has the number 420 on it. If you can't find it, or it's too tricky to find, let me know and I'll scan it for you.

Different Pattern type help
Jen, I figured it out.
The patterns runs in columns.
The top column is the number you are in the sequence
The second is the number of beads the LEFT string goes through
the third is the number of beads added to the RIGHT string
The fourth is the number if beads in the formed circle when you thread the left string through the last bead added to the right string
Hope this helps....everyone.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Dawn. I lost an Uncle and wonder father in law and last night my son brought through these 2 puppies for us in remembrance to them and also to celebrate life. Anyhow my head is in a better place now so I will start helping with patterns once again and at the moment I have been trying to make beaded mushrooms, once I have finished them I will post a picture.
Bless you.

Hi Dawn and Jen.
While I have been browsing I came across a book and it had these instructions on how to follow the patterns that we have all been trying to work out how to read them. It looks quite simple to follow them. I hope this helps everyone out there.

Hi Vanessa, I wonder if you could post the book to me as well. No hurry, just when you get to it.
thanks so much
Different Pattern type help
Hi Jen and Dawn.
Please explain to me which book you are looking for, with what pattern in. I am a little bit confused here as it was a long time ago.
I have actually sorted out all my folders at last, so it is a lot easier for me to find things a lot quicker now.
Vanessa.
Different Pattern type help
Hi Jen and Dawn.
I was just browsing to see what postings I had missed or forgot to reply to, I think I owe you both the book with the different pattern type, I will e.mail it over the next few days.
Here are some more different pattern types and I thought these will help people to understand these patterns as these are well diagrammed and look easy enough to follow. Perfect to practice with.
The last 2 pictures posted here are of the same piglets just done in different pattern types or illustrated differently, I thought they would make a good example and also help how to follow the written pattern type. I have been coming across all these pattern types a lot lately. They seem to be coming very popular.
Vanessa.
Different Pattern type help
I've figured out how to do this type of pattern pretty well now. I even found some instructions with some English words in it to help. So I've decided to make a tutorial on it, hopefully in plain understandable English, that I can post on the site to help anyone who needs it. So, keep an eye out, it will be coming soon.
Different Pattern type help
An English Tutorial Jen, will be fantastic for these types of patterns, I am sure for everyone who has seen or come across them. I have more or less got the hang of them myself and make shorthand notes and then cannot understand my own shorthand a few days later, if I put the project to one side. I land up back tracking to the beginning to see where I am at. So now I have started drawing pictures as I am beading and marking where I stop.
Different Pattern type help
I know exactly what you mean Vanessa! I thought I had it worked out a while ago, then I had a look at another pattern of the same type, and I had no idea. Even when I looked at my notes on the first one (I always do heaps of notes on them), I still couldn't figure it all out.
So now hopefully this will form a good cheat sheet that we can keep referring back to it.
It's nearly finished.

Vanessa,
This is the book I was talking about.
You are awesome.
